Our History


Since 1957 the founder Philip Gert Mans started Windhoek Furniture Packers & Removers primarily specializing in furniture removal in Southern Africa. During the years his 4 sons also joined the business. In 1980 the company diversified their services and started transporting commercials goods from Johannesburg to Namibia.

The youngest son of the 4 brothers also named after his father, Philip Mans, established his own business in 2000 trading under the new name, Levine Namtrans Movers CC. Since 2000 the company specialized in both International and National Imports and Exports of household furniture as well as the transportation of commercial goods from Johannesburg to Windhoek.

In 2000 Namtrans started its operations with only one or two departures per week from Johannesburg. Today we run a scheduled departure fleet with multiple departures per week from Johannesburg and Cape Town to Windhoek with an impressive lead time of only 48 hours per departure.

We can also proudly say that since the outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemic in 2020 Namtrans managed to diversify its services by adding Tautliners and Flat deck interlinks to its fleet. This enabled us to service all sectors in the market.

The Present

We currently run a fleet of truck tractors with the highest European standards, Pantech trailers for household and commercial transport, Tautliner Interlinks as well as flat deck interlinks for palletized loads. For the smaller loads in the less accessible areas a 14 ton, 3 ton and 1 ton delivery vehicle is used in Namibia. All vehicles are equipped with 24-hour tracking devices to monitor the progress on every move or route we are travelling. Each commercial truck is also equipped with 450 - 600 blankets to protect and prevent goods from scratching and denting. We offer specialized packing solutions and all our Pantech combinations travels with a Packing specialist to ensure best handling practice and securing of all loads in a trailer.

 

Primary Market

Our market primarily consists of commercial distribution from RSA to Namibia, Global household import and exports, regional and national and local office removals. As well as local palletized storage facilities.

Namtrans offers a Goods In Transit Insurance cover per vehicle of ZAR/N$ 2 500 000 thus enabling sufficient cover for all freight consignments. We also have global insurance cover for international export moves, which is optional to our customers.

We collect and/or deliver in all major cities in South Africa with regards to household effects/moves. Our international coverage is well structured on each continent and we make use of only the best the industry can cover in the moving business.

Willem oversees and manages the organization's growth and exposure to global markets.   Ensuring the achievement of market related service levels and facilitating seamless communication across the organization are of paramount importance to him.   With a robust background in customer service, he plays a pivotal role within the organization.
